Electrify SOMA is a grassroots initiative created by your neighbors here in South Orange and Maplewood. We know that many SOMA residents are interested in saving energy while also reducing climate-warming emissions. We researched the top five home “electrification” solutions, and many of us have implemented at least one of these solutions. We would like to share our combined experiences with you. On this website you will find a description of the “Big 5” electrification solutions, and provide guidance on how to navigate the process smoothly. Some of these solutions are big ticket items, but there are government incentives available NOW to make it easier on your wallet. New Jersey’s clean energy program has some pretty generous offers, and we’ll lay them out in detail.
